An SBS eDiscovery Director develops an understanding of the matter scope and underlying issues, performs an assessment of all available data, reports her or his findings and recommendations, and finally initiates defensible steps to further cull data to minimize the volume of documents requiring attorney review.

The critical part of this process is effectively identifying what is necessary for discovery to focus attention upon the most important and relevant information–thereby eliminating irrelevant content while ensuring a successful review process.

This data cull process is strictly managed and includes a variety of highly effective data filtering methods such as running a file extension analysis and keyword assessment and development, as well as false positive and false negative analysis, term restriction analysis, and technology assisted review.

Following this phase, the SBS eDiscovery Director will create a case-specific workflow to execute a comprehensive managed review.
